Frequently asked questions

What people ask most about the game, rooms and your data.

The game

Is Balls free?

Yes. It is free, with no in-game payments and no ads.

What is Balls about?

It is a survival party game: everyone starts on a floating platform of hexagonal tiles where a huge ball keeps rolling and growing. The floor breaks and the platform tilts. The last one standing wins.

How long is a match?

A match is 10 rounds, one per level. Each round lasts 1 to 3 minutes, so a full match takes about 15 to 25 minutes including transitions and results.

How many people can play?

From 2 to 8. Whoever creates the room decides whether missing spots are filled with bots.

Can I play with a controller?

Yes: keyboard and mouse or a controller. Controls can be changed in the game’s Options.

What about phones?

It is not designed for phones. It runs in recent desktop browsers with WebGL 2.

Playing with others

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts and no sign-up: open the site, load the game and create or join a room.

How do I join a room?

Every room has a 4-digit code. Whoever creates it shares it with you and you type it in. There are also public rooms, which you enter if the host approves you.

Is there chat?

There are predefined quick messages so you can talk without typing.

What if my connection drops?

You are out for that round and have 30 seconds to come back without losing the rounds you already won. If you are not back in time, a bot takes your place.

How do I report someone who cheats?

From inside the match you can report cheating, offensive names or repeated leaving.

Your data

What data do you keep about me?

Almost none. We ask for no name, email or password. So rooms work and abuse is prevented, the technical IP of your connection stays in the server logs for 48 hours. Your progress, unlocked levels and statistics are kept only in your browser.

Do you use cookies or analytics?

We use no cookies of our own and no advertising cookies. We measure visits in aggregate with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies.

Can I delete my progress?

Yes: it lives in your browser, so clearing the site data in your browser settings removes it. There is no copy on our servers.

What age do I need to play?

Balls is made for ages 10 and up and has no blood or realistic violence. If you are under 14, ask your family for permission and do not type personal data into your nickname.
